On February 14th Amazon announced Amazon Chime, and with it Amazon enters squarely into the collaboration services market. The offering, which is hosted on Amazon Web Services, provides audio, video, and web conferencing along with persistent chat messaging. Andy gives a quick review and his initial impressions.

Two announcements over the past few weeks deeply reveal the inner workings of two very different Persistent Collaboration Spaces (PCS) vendors and their offerings. As a streaming industry stalwart closely associated with its namesake encoding appliances, VBrick historically had been known primarily as a purveyor of video hardware. Finally and definitively, I think we can safely say that image should be dead and buried. Today’s VBrick is a software company, through and through.
