Apparently lacking any better options, Ooyala now is being acquired by Brightcove in the equivalent of a streaming video rummage sale. Following in the footsteps of other social media services like Facebook and Twitter, Microsoft’s LinkedIn service has unveiled plans to make its own foray into the world of live streaming video. Is Microsoft envisioning this as an afterthought feature for LinkedIn, or does it see opportunity to develop software that maximizes the revenue opportunities for distributing streaming video content?
On January 29th Polycom / Plantronics unveiled its first audio / video USB peripheral bar - the Polycom Studio. Polycom has decades of video conferencing and audio innovations in its technology arsenal. Would that make the Studio better?
