Higher Education and K-12 Respondents Choose Technologies that Most Enhance Learning Outcomes

Wainhouse Research surveyed a targeted group of 343 educators and educational administrators in the fourth quarter of 2016 to gauge use, deployment, and perceptions of technology platforms and services.  Analysis in this document focuses on results from this question: “Among the technologies that can be implemented in the classroom environment, which three of the following have the most impact on enhancing learning outcomes.”   Seven charts contained herein as well as analysis and market commentary are based on the responses of 151 Higher Education respondents and 192 K-12 respondents and are segmented appropriately.

Among the findings: As to be expected, differentiation between Higher Education and primary / secondary education respondents is significant. Having said that, of the cumulative 343 respondents, tablets and laptops, interactive whiteboards and flat panels, and video conferencing are the top three technologies in terms of impact on learning outcomes.  Data is contrasted with a similar survey fielded in fourth quarter of 2015, with video conferencing, social media, and smartphones showing significant gains year-over-year.
