From the Lab: Microsoft's Skype Room Systems (SRS v2)

Hands-on testing of a Skype for Business conferencing solution for use in the meeting room.

In August 2017, the WR test team spent some time testing and using Skype Room Systems v2 (SRS v2) - a Skype for Business (SfB) based video conferencing system for use in meeting rooms.

Key features / functions include:

  • Productized (meaning finished-feeling) deployment superior to most DIY installations
  • Support for dual-displays (one for video, one for content) 
  • Strong ease of use (e.g. simple user interface, simple calendar integration, room-friendly touch control)
  • Support for wired local content and remote content sharing (via HDMI cable)
