The Collaborative Ideation Technology Landscape

Defining the Product and Vendor Segments

Collaborative ideation technologies are considered by some to be the next frontier in the UC&C industry.  With a unit penetration rate into classrooms and meeting rooms that is only in the low millions, the opportunity for engaging knowledge workers in a new way with new tools is appealing to many.  As WR extends its coverage into ideation, this brief note focuses on three areas:

  1. What is the definition of collaborative, ideation technology?
  2. What type of vendors fit into the market landscape?
  3. Where do those vendors place their product emphasis?

In addition to drawing on WR’s internal database of past qualitative and quantitative coverage of the interactive device marketplace, WR briefed with more than 25 large and small providers of interactive flat panels, interactive whiteboards, wireless presentation systems, and UC-connected ideation technologies between April-July 2018.

This note describes where each of these vendors “fit” in the ecosystem of providers wishing to support meeting room and team visual collaboration.  Vendors described include:

  • Barco
  • Bluescape
  • Cisco
  • ClearTouch Interactive
  • Crestron
  • Dell
  • DisplayNote
  • Flatfrog
  • Google
  • HP
  • InFocus
  • Kaptivo
  • Luidia

  • Polycom
  • Promethean
  • Prysm

The goal is to provide guidance to enterprises seeking to understand better the ideation space, and position vendors based on their offerings to date.
